  19. IMPORTANT NOTES TO WINDOWS 3.1X USERS
  20. ----------------------------------------
  21. You system may report CD-ROM read error if you use Win 3.1x because
  22. this collection includes files for WINDOWS'95.  Win'95 supports
  23. file names longer than the standard 8 characters.  Your CD-ROM driver 
  24. will not be able to read these long file names and reports read 
  25. errors to you.  The CD-ROM is good. We have shipped over one million 
  26. CD-ROM and have yet to find a defective CD-ROM. 
  27.  
  28. Some programs on this CD-ROM are specially written for Windows '95.  
  29. It will NOT run or give error messages if you try to run it under
  30. Windows 3.1x.

  32. We suggest that you upgrade your system to Windows '95.  It is more
  33. stable than Win 3.1x and is faster.

  37. HOW THE FILES ARE ORGANIZED
  38. ---------------------------
  39. There are over 500Mb of programs (over 7,500 files) in this CD-ROM. It
  40. is too time consuming to test each program individually.  The editors 
  41. rely on the program's own documentations to categorize the programs.

  43. Each program is classified according to the function it does.  Then 
  44. it is transfered to the appropriate category.

  48. BEGINNER SECTION

  50. Just in case that you are new to the internet,  we have included couple
  51. tutorials for beginners or people who want to refresh their internet
  52. knowledge.  These are the programs:

  57. If you are not familiar with the actual "surfing" of the internet, click
  58. on the TUTORIAL subdirectory and click on any of the .EXE file for a
  59. Lotus Screencam demonstration.

  62. WEB PAGE AUTHORING SECTION

  64. This section is under the HTML_EDT directory.  We have included 18 web
  65. page creation program.  If you don't know which one to start, try 
  66. HOTDOG, HOTMETAL and HTMLEASY.

  68. There is a HTML_REF directory with all the reference materials for HTML.
  69. If you see file with .HTM extension, you need a browser like Netscape
  70. Navigator (download from NETSCAPE.COM), Microsoft Internet Explorer 
  71. (included in the BROWSER directory) or IVIEW (included in VIEWER 
  72. directory) to read the file.  Some files with .DOC extension are
  73. Microsoft WORD format file.  You need Microsoft WORD or a WORD VIEWER 
  74. (included in VIEWER directory) to read it.
